Recipes
For what it’s worth, here are the recipes that I have personally created, found, tried, or modified. I rely heavily on the crock pot and freezer! I do cook other things occasionally, but I am one of those women who did not start cooking at all until after my honeymoon, so I have not had the extra time to be as adventurous as I would like to be. If I do something a little daring or out of the ordinary, I usually post it on my blog, and it won’t be listed here. These recipes are my “staples” if you will.
I confess that in this chapter of my life, I am less concerned about presentation and flair than I am reliability and nutrition. I do what I have to do to feed five hungry people. Sometimes I get sad when I consider the routine nature of our family meals, but I keep reminding myself that one day my children will be older, and then some or all of them will be in the kitchen with me helping me make vibrant, delicious, and new dishes! For now my main goal is consistency of family dinners and happy tummies filled with good fat and real calories.
- Yummy Friendship Bread (pdf) - This is a very simple recipe that involves getting a starter going and feeding it every week to yield two yummy bread loaves. I have made it off and on for the last five years and love it!
- Making Baby Food - This isn’t really a recipe but more of an explanation of why I like making home-made food for infants. It references a good book and a sample oatmeal cereal recipe for babies.
- Crock Pot Recipes (list) - I can’t say enough how much these have saved the day! It is so nice to chop and mix, throw in, and go about the rest of our busy schedule, knowing it will be there for dinner.
- Crock Pot Recipes (pdf) - If you would like to download all of the crock pot recipes in one document for printing, here ya go. I update this file on my end each time I add a new recipe to it.
