Sunday Nights Downtown

snd.jpgMy husband and I are so excited to be part of something great coming soon to downtown Charleston, SC. If you are going to be in Charleston for the Bridge Run or for any other weekends in April, you won’t want to miss this.

Phil Keaggy is coming on April 6th, Laura Story is coming on April 13th, and my husband Eric and the worship team will be coming on the 20th. These concerts are designed to bless the community, they are free, and they will be a way for the community to give back through local ministries in the Charleston area.

Check the website for more details. You can complete an online registration that will provide you an email to print and bring to the concert(s) as your ticket to enter. I’m excited about this, and I hope some of you can come as well!

Update on Baby Shepherd

I got an email a little while ago from my friend Emily, and she was laughing and making fun of me because she thought my “Whooo!” post was surely going to be about Shepherd. :) I know, now that I think about it, it was pretty lame for me to post about Photoshop Express versus the condition of my baby, but I was going to take a little time to think about it first before writing. I have to write now, though, because I know it is indeed quite silly that the day we had more testing done I post about something rather trivial in comparison instead!

Here is what I wrote to our families earlier in an email:

My spirit … is bright and relieved after our visit to MUSC fetal medicine for our ultrasound today. Many of you in our family already know that the ultrasound showed absolutely nothing of concern this morning, and we are very thankful for that. The markers that were shown at the last visit were completely gone this time, and all of his body parts were measuring as expected for his age. We were praying for God to make our hearts completely ready and content no matter what, and of course we are blessed and relieved to know something definite. We are thankful that he is developing well and is measuring healthy and strong, and we praise God for showing us this clearly! I just wanted to share this with you and thank, thank, thank you so much for all of your prayers for him and our family. Please keep praying that his body will develop beautifully and for the remainder of the pregnancy. Thank you for rejoicing with us and being there for us.

Oh, and ps – He is still a boy. :) Saw that VERY CLEARLY. Ha!

So, again, I thank you for stopping by to check on us and for praying for Shepherd as he is growing and making his preparations for arrival in July. I appreciate (we appreciate) your prayers more than you will ever know!

Some of you were asking me to post some “tummy pictures” (no, I will never again after having two children – much less three – wear a bikini, so you need not worry about my taste!). But, you are just doing this to taunt me, right? You know I get gigantic when I am pregnant! Oh well, I will humor you when I can get Eric or someone to take a shot. I am a little over half-way, but I am already starting to feel like the end with Lydia (oh yes, the pants were pulled way up to make Eric laugh — yes, it worked) and, oh no: the end with Meredith – Ha!

Photoshop Express Beta Release

whoo.jpg

“Photoshop Express, the long-awaited free online image editor from Photoshop maker Adobe, will be released as a public beta on Thursday. Unlike Adobe’s more powerful image editing tools for the desktop, Photoshop Express is aimed not at the professional photographer, but at the casual snapshot fan looking to polish up images before sharing them online at sites like Photobucket, Facebook and Flickr…”

Scott Gilbertson at Wired

This is great news for anyone who wants to test out some of the great power behind the Adobe imaging product features without paying a single penny! The whole application is available online, so if you’re looking for a new way to spruce up your photos, head over to Photoshop Express to take her for a test drive!

Nancy

picture-2.pngPlease pray in the strong name of Jesus for a woman named Nancy really quickly if you are reading this. Nancy is a dear friend who comes to my home on Mondays for bible study. She is like a grandmother to me and is very influential in my faith. She is having quadruple bypass surgery tomorrow (Wednesday) at 1:00 pm, and the whole thing has been a surprise to her in the last 24 hours. She is extremely thankful, though, that God revealed the need for this procedure.

Pray for her strength, her body to accept the surgery well, and for her entire well-being as she recovers. She is a strong lady and strong in her trust in Jesus, and I know she will appreciate your prayers. Thank you!

Thursday : Loving Other People part III.5

(I can combine decimals and Roman numerals, right?) :)

I didn’t plan on posting anything for another week or so; I have been pretty busy, but I read this today and was so excited at the thought of sharing it for anyone who may not happen upon it.

I would say that Jesus did not replace or change the commandment, “Love your neighbor as you love yourself.” He filled it out and gave it clear illustration. He is saying,

Here is what I mean by “as yourself.” Watch me. I mean: Just as you would want someone to set you free from certain death, so you should set them free from certain death. That is how I am now loving you. My suffering and death is what I mean by ‘as yourself.’ You want life. Live to give others life. At any cost.

– John Piper, Thursday of the Commandment

These are right in line concerning the next thing I was thinking for a Loving Others post, and that is what I want to post about next week: loving each other with the grace that gives them life, following the very example of Jesus. This is a transforming thought from the heart of God. May it be on our hearts for Easter!
