Entering Blog World
A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones. (Proverbs 17:22)
Hello, Blog World.
I succumbed to adding my own personal contribution to the community of cyberspace at about, uh, 8 o’clock this morning. I don’t feel any different yet, but I don’t know that I’m really awake yet honestly. I don’t feel too great the last few days. The last 2 years of my life have been marked with pregnancies and amazing months with young children and my wonderful husband Eric. One plus of being pregnant for me, besides the indescribable result of life, has been the absence of outdoor allergies. It’s like my pregnancy hormones did something so that pollen didn’t bother me like it did years ago (okay, one of my nicknames in college was “puffy” when I wasn’t on Benadryl)! Anyway, now that I’m not pregnant anymore during Spring or Fall (I had two pregnancies very close together), the allergies have overtaken me again!!! So here I have been, surviving on steam and vitamins and lots of water. But that’s part of why I chose this verse from the Bible to hallmark my own little blog world.
A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones. (Proverbs 17:22)
Those are some powerfully profound words. I know I’ve always been a happy person, but inner joy is something else, wouldn’t you agree? This verse wouldn’t apply to me unless I knew the Source of inner joy. It’s not from anywhere including within myself. It’s something, someOne, outside of myself. I’m so glad I’ve been rescued. Jesus Christ has given me a merry heart. That’s why I can roll out of this bed in a few minutes to greet my sweet Lydia and Steven, the two beautiful children God has given me (sorry, Eric, you left for work while I was still snoring).
Our world is so addicted to ease, pleasure, and the quick-fix. Medicine occasionally hosts the opportunity for those to run our lives. Not so with God’s medicine. He’s the Pro of giving a merry heart, a cheerful heart, a heart that’s been changed from stone to a new flesh. I think I’m wide awake now and ready to go get my babies with a cheerful heart.
